Chanca Piedra

Chanca Piedra is a small annual herb that grows up to 40 cm in height. It is native to tropical areas such as the Amazon Rainforest, the Bahamas, and Southern Asia. ‘Chanca Piedra’ is the plant’s name in Spanish and translates into English as “shatter stone”. It was given this name because of its effectiveness in the elimination of gall- and kidney stones in the indigenous people of the Amazon.

This plant is also used traditionally by the Amazonians for numerous other conditions and is generally employed for pain reduction, expelling intestinal gas, promoting digestion, expelling worms, and as a mild laxative.
