Holy Basil, also known as tulsi or tulasi (meaning “the incomparable one”) in Hindi, has long been regarded as one of the most sacred plants of India. Native to that region, it has been revered in Ayurveda for thousands of years. In Hindu mythology, the tulsi plant is a symbol of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity.

In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Holy Basil: is  used as a cardiotonic, as a demulcent agent for the relief of cough, to aid digestion, and as an antioxidant.
