Graviola (Annona Muricata) Extract
Graviola is a fruit (otherwise known as Soursop, Graviola being its’ Portuguese name) native to Latin America. This fruit can be eaten or made into a delicious juice, but can also (along with its’ leaves, stem, bark, roots and seeds) be used medicinally. The indigenous people of the Andes, the Amazon and the Caribbean have long used Graviola as a natural remedy.
In the Andes of Peru, Graviola leaves are brewed to discharge mucus and soothe inflamed mucous membranes. In the Amazon region, diabetics use the bark, leaves and roots to stabilize blood sugar. Tea made with the leaves is taken as a heart tonic in Guyana, a liver remedy in Brazil, and a treatment for asthma, coughs and flu in the West Indies. Graviola is used for arthritis and rheumatism, and some mothers eat and drink the fruit to promote lactation.
